Ikea veggie dog, yah or na?!

Ikea had a new hotdog and I needed to try it! I tried this dog in Germany and they had a bit more to put on it.

The condiments

  • Sour kraut
  • fried onions
  • dressing saus
  • french mustard
  • ketchup
  • pickels

It taste like………….

Well if you ever heard from the dish Dahl (an Indian dish) it taste just like that, but then more solid, in a puree and in the shape of a wiener.  The dog is not like a fake meat dog at all. It is more like a veggie burger (for the dutchies, like vivera)  in a hotdog form. The condiments are really needed! The dog with the bread is just to dry. The bread is firm and crispy and definitely is a plus! You still feel and taste bits and pieces from corn, lentils and what not in the dog.

The price

The price for only the dog is 1.00 euro, with a drink it’s 1,50 and unlimited refill. Definitely not a bad price for a snack!

Calories

I think it’s around 250-300 calories with these condiments put on in moderate amounts.

Vegan or vegetarian?

In the country I was (both the Netherlands and Germany) the dog was indeed vegan and therefore automatically vegetarian as well.

Is it worth it?

Is it worth the try? of course, it is! Would I recommend this every time you go to the Ikea? No! Ikea has come a long way with their menu and have a lot of healthy options. Try them out too!

Much love,
